Nigel Farage Claims Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues

The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike shortly after a Reform UK election victory, charging that they are “harming young minds” by telling students that black pupils are victims and white children oppressors.

During an event for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his viewpoint on the UK education system, claiming that the “radical left-wing” had “taken over schooling”.

“I expect a walkout by educators very quickly after securing a victory,” Farage commented during a Q&A session.

“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They inform little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is a perpetrator. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”

Reacting to these assertions, Daniel Kebede dismissed the notion that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “absurd”. Kebede noted that industrial action must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and questioned whether Reform would attack these right after taking office.

“Farage has built his political career on coded rhetoric and now, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a fight,” the union leader said.

“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he claims … If he were to lead the government he would undermine state services, particularly schooling … and he would be a disaster for education and children.”

Reform, which tops surveys by a significant margin, has provided limited specifics on its educational plans and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.

However, Farage’s remarks indicated the party would overhaul the educational framework. He said: “We have got a massive job with education – truly monumental. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, years to turn this around.”

Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Honoring a conservative activist, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and you make up your own mind as opposed to what’s happening now where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”

Reform has previously clashed with the UK’s largest teaching union, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

The politician has charged the union head with being “an avowed radical” … an individual intent that our children should be poisoned through education, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and maintained that the union is trying to indoctrinate youth opposed to his party.

Roughly a million individuals work in schools in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The leading teachers’ organization has about 450,000 members.

National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 caused widespread disruption in schools and extensive missed instruction for students.

During the American gathering, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I mean this. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of youth to your online courses. I pledge this tonight and I will follow through.”

The institution, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for no charge to all who wish to learn.”
